Lessons learned

Over the past couple of years, I've learned a lot. Grown a lot. Matured a lot. I suspect it will, or is, the same for many of you out there. If this is my last post, I hope it's a post you will enjoy. (And this is my last post, to clear up the confusion. So thank you all, and please read my notice above this.)

My posting has weaned off quite a lot within the last year. Honestly, I have trouble remembering what I posted about before. But in place of that posting, I've been Skyping and tweeting. Not enough to make up for it, but hopefully because of it, I still have a place here.

When I think of, or look back on my old posts, I feel embarrassed. I wasn't as "wise" as I am now, I couldn't write, I failed at organization. But now I realize, it was a process. It's because of those old posts, the ones I feel so embarrassed about, that got me where I am now. And I am eternally grateful to everyone that cheered me on, gave me feedback, and created this game that we all are writing about. It's mushy, I know. (I used to be VERY mushy. Trying to tone it down. :P)

I'm sure in a few years I will look back on all my posts, including this one. I will be embarrassed. I will be annoyed at myself for posting something so stupid.

Here be a few lessons that I can only hope others have learned as well.

One thing I think I've done, over the past few years, is hone my writing skills. Reading everyone else's posts have taught me a number of things. Grammar, organization, spelling, all those little technical things that really make your writing enjoyable. And deeper things. I find when I write about these "deeper things" I'm far too immature and it just seems silly. For example, this post. I wasn't even sure I would publish it, but I thought I'd take the plunge and see what people think about it.

I've also learned, and I hope others have too, that on the internet, you have to watch what you say. It never goes away, even if you delete it. So make sure you THINK before you talk. You can never be quite sure what will start another Wizard War.

Speaking of Wizard Wars, I hope everyone's learned a bit about problem solving. Remember that Controversy post I did? I was caught in the middle of a 'war' due to my misbehavior. Yeah, it worked out fine in the end. It's unfortunate it happened, but the most you can hope for is that you've learned a lesson.

One "classic Wizard101 moment" is when another player barges into your fight without asking. Or one of your more annoying, not-as-close friends ports to you in the middle of a private matter and starts asking everyone what you're talking about. (Okay, I admit, I've done that before.) The cheesy lesson in all this is respect. Yes, THAT word. The one that annoying elementary school guidance counselor always used. Respect other people, blah blah. But it's a skill that's crucial in life, no matter where you want to go.

Some people turn to Wizards as a retreat. A way to make friends they'd never have in real life. Fooling around with friends you'd never have in the real world is a unique experience. It teaches you to respect differences and to look past their appearance into their personality.

Creativity. Now you're confused. How is there creativity, of all things, in a community of people obsessed with a video game? Don't they just play this game and talk about what they did?

No, communities do much, much more than that. We dig deep into the game. We look at things that are seemingly random, and we see a pattern. We create fan art, "music videos", music. It's much more than an obsession. For some people, everything you see, even a small log by the sidewalk, is automatically *somehow* connected to Wizard101. It's creativity.

And when others that haven't experienced the magic of this game say that it's immature, you learn that not everyone can appreciate everything you do. You can make them try it, and maybe they'll agree with you, but maybe they won't, and that's okay too. Again, respecting others' differences.

So here I am, working on the first draft of this post on a tiny keyboard in the wee hours of the night. I just couldn't go to sleep without writing this post.

Edit: This is now probably the 3rd revision, and the post is still as bad. Oh well.

It's been a journey for me, getting this far.

You should be glad I didn't add a bad simile to the end of this post.

This time, I'd like you to write a limerick. What is a limerick, you ask? Why, it is a poem made up of 5 lines. The first, second, and fifth have to rhyme and must have the same amount of syllables. So do the third and fourth.

Here's a bad example from my *cough* childhood. (Brace yourselves.)

There once was a redwood tree from Oregon
He met a fellow strangely named Morrigan
When the tall tree was cut down
Morrigan started to frown
Until he met a cute girl named Noragan

Yeah. That's why I always liked the cover on my poem book better than the poems themselves.

One thing though. The poem MUST be Wizard101 related.

*Quick book review*

All You Desire by Kirsten Miller was amazing. It's so good, I stayed up until 4 AM reading it. (Almost in one sitting.) The first book in this series is The Eternal Ones. I think the two books would actually be in different genres, the first book would be more of a 'Twilight-ish' YA paranormal romance and the second a mystery/thriller. Highly recommended to any middle-schoolers and above that like mysteries mixed in with a bit of romance.

Before I get to the main attraction, I have to say, to all you Kirsten Miller fans out there, ALL YOU DESIRE IS COMING OUT TOMORROW! Yay! I'm going to try to get it tomorrow.

I felt like writing a little story, so when I read Heather's post, I knew what I should write.

I gaped as she walked off, fuming. “I am NOT a bad friend! It’s all YOUR fault!” She turned around, her face beet red and an eyebrow arched. I clapped a hand to my mouth. I did not mean to say that. It just kind of came out. I had a habit of doing that.

“It’s all MY fault? Like I was the one running around and calling my friends names! It’s not like I was insulting my best friend’s wand collection!”

“Well, I wasn’t gossiping about my best friend behind her back and trolling in the commons!”

“I didn’t do things in Ravenwood that are against the rules!”

“Yes, you did.”

She couldn’t take it anymore. She disappeared, leaving behind a flash of leaves. So I teleported to my house, smiling because I had the last word.

Then I realized, I had these arguments with my friends once a week. I liked to enjoy life, sometimes hurting others and causing trouble when I did. (I don’t think the tree in the commons enjoyed being practiced on…) Sometimes, I also argued with people I just met, just because I didn’t have the same views as they had. But seriously. I mean, why would you choose death over storm? And, come on, how is Selena Gomez a better singer than my grandmother?

I guess it was given that I got a notice a week later for a class in Cyrus Drake’s classroom, something about trust building. But I didn’t like it anyway.

That's it for today. I hope I didn't offend anyone... Heh heh... *looks innocent*

Sorry for my writing skills, I've been recently trying to hone them by writing a novel. It's turning out to be a soap opera/bad action movie, if anyone's interested.

Guardian Support Team

Surely you've all heard of the Game going on at HiaG and the HiaG Panic Tomb, right?

So to support these 'guardians' participating, a Guardian Support Team has been created! (Mostly led by me. :P) On Twitter, our hashtag is #WizardsforGuardians.

I hope you join us! To join, just dye your clothes in-game black and silver (preferably black with a silver trim) and contact me by commenting on this post and we could have a photo shoot! (If you're into that sort of thing.) Seriously. That's it. Of course, if you want to do more, you can tweet about our team using our hashtag, post about this on your own blog, advertise in the commons, etc. Make sure you use the hashtag, or else it won't count on our list. Retweets of my tweets will be counted. The title of your blog post must have 'Guardian Support Team' in it.

Why would you do this, you say? What's your incentive?

Well, you said you wanted it more challenging, so "Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it. Have you ever played a game, and had those Boss level NPC's that you just couldn't figure out how to beat? Well, for The User's standpoint, you Guardians are just that! (Great for "our side", notsomuch for The User) And another thing, I'm seeing ( aside from some Twitter posts ) a general lack of support from non-Guardians. Support your Community members, readers! Without some "comments" from non-guardians, The User might get insecure, and pause The Game, until the Audience interacts! (some Users are just so insecure) Translation: If I don't see the Community pulling together, and watch spectators just passively standing by, waiting for Guardians to do all the work, only Guardians will reap the contest rewards)

This means that if we don't team up and support our guardians, we may not be rewarded? I mean, everyone loves rewards, right? You have to work for anything you get.

I'll be posting a list of our members every day until the Game ends. Hopefully this list will grow! (I will also list what you have done. For example, how many tweets you have tweeted with the hashtag and how many posts you have written about this. Think of this as something to brag about.)

Anyway, I thought I'd do a 'summer reading' post today. No, I do not have a picture of my bookshelf to show you. Why? It's a bit empty... I don't really buy that many books.

Favorite Author:
KIRSTEN MILLER! I admit I am a bit of a Kirsten Miller fangirl. I check her blog every day, I've read each of her books at least twice, and I entered her All You Desire ARC (that's advance reading copy to all you non-book enthusiasts out there) contest with a book cover that I spent a long time on. More than 2 hours. Yeah, I'm a bit of a perfectionist. Unfortunately I was not a finalist. (I KNEW I should have colored it!) Here's the book cover I drew here: (It looks better in real life. I'm serious.)

The reason why I didn't put the little details in the hands is
because they could be silhouettes. The little thing for the o is an ouroboros.

Shhhh.... I have to say, the ones that are finalists aren't as good as mine.

Books you should read over the summer (in no particular order):

The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan- As with any Rick Riordan book, it's really good.

Les Miserables by Victor Hugo- It's a classic. Read it. Now. An abridged version.

The entire Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan- Halt is epic.

Maximum Ride by James Patterson- I've only read the first two books, but if you like books like Percy Jackson, you'll want to read this series.

Matched by Ally Condie- Personally, it's not my favorite YA books, but my friend likes it and you may want to give it a try.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins- Amazing, but over-read.

The Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld- It's like Matched (more like Matched is like Uglies) but I personally think it's better, there's just more action and suspense.

War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy- Ah... Just kidding. I'll probably die before I finish this book. Especially the unabridged version.

Powers by Jane White- What, you haven't heard of it? Looks like Donna needs to work on publicity...

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams- Read it now. Just do it.

Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling- You've been living under a rock for the past 10 years if you haven't heard of this.

Why the Sultan's Palace is not Krokotopian 1

Yes, I might be going to the 2nd Annual Ravenwood Ball! I need a costume... One that isn't lame... One unlike last year's... (I don't think any of you guys remember it.)

Okay. Moving on. Why the Sultan's Palace isn't Krok themed. This post will not be about dictionary definitions. I will be looking at the house itself and how it is designed and landscaped. (By the way, have you seen the new Architectural Digest? I LOVE the exterior of the house on page 117...)

1. You see the dome with the finial there? And the mini domes on the spires? What does it remind you of? The Taj Mahal. Of course, the colors here are a bit more vivid, and the stone work slightly less intricate, but this does look like Mughal architecture to me. Mughal is a mix of Persian, Islamic, and Indian styles. Sultans are monarchs of Islamic countries, so this is not Krokotopian. Krokotopia was based off of Egypt.

2. You don't see this greenery and these fountains in Krokotopia, do you? The pool... It reminds one a lot of the reflecting pool at the Taj Mahal. (It's a bit unfortunate this reflecting pool doesn't reflect, eh?)

3. That arch? It's called an iwan. A fundamental part of Mughal architecture.

4. Now we move into the internal yard/courtyard. (I'll continue to use the Taj Mahal as an example, because it is easily recognizable.)

The screen is meant to be a jali. A jali is part of Islamic architecture. It is an intricate screen made out of carved marble. It doesn't look much like marble, but I think the artists wanted to make it look different from a traditional jali. (Not exactly sure... I might come back to this one.)

5. The designers for this palace took many elements of Islamic architecture. An example of Moorish architecture is the orange and white pattern throughout the palace.

It reminds me of the voussoirs on the arches in the Cathedral/Mosque of Cordoba. (Voussoirs are the wedge-shaped stones in an arch.)

Controversy

There has been 'unrest' lately on Skype about fansites, what they get, how they are chosen, and KI in general, with the new mega-card being sent to only fansites. Controversy isn't a happy thing, and usually I don't like to get too caught up in it. But I'm angry at what people are saying.

I have said before that no one should blog for fame, money, etc. Stop blogging if you don't enjoy it. That is what I have done, as it has gotten less interesting to me. But sometimes I feel it is necessary to publish a post. This is one of those times.

Firstly, I have been criticized of doing the opposite of what I said. I, apparently, am blogging for fame and free gift cards. Sure, freebies are nice. It's a bit of a reward for all the time I have spent blogging. Sure, I have not been posting very often, but I spent some time thinking of this post. I am spending time writing this post. I am ignoring my IRL friend, who is currently rapid-firing me emails through another email address.

In fact, I believe that I do not deserve these freebies. I would be content if, perhaps, just a few select bloggers get these things. The ones that actually post.

Regarding the unrest, (YAY! Time to stop talking about myself.) I believe that other fansites should be included on the 'official' list. But still, several official bloggers/fansites have spent an excessive amount of time on doing what they love, years. These websites deserve the title of 'official', just as some of the 'nonofficial' ones do. If you have only been blogging for several months, please wait. There is time. Let your site and your popularity in the blogosphere grow. There is no point in rushing into the 'official-fansite-obsessed' phase. In fact, there is no point of being in the 'fansite-obsessed' phase at all.

Argue that you deserve it, argue that you have worked hard for it. Sure, Kingsisle may be being unfair, not letting your fansite into this select club. It takes time. Don't nag them. You are doing this for your enjoyment, and constantly ranting about how Kingsisle is unfair, how you deserve to be a fansite, is not enjoyable. People will soon dislike you for your pessimism. Leave it be, and enjoy the game and enjoy blogging.

The Sultan's Palace is only a fad. It will soon be outdated and everyone will have it, just like the other mega-card. But the relationships you have strained with your friends and fellow bloggers, those will never be the same.

Oh yeah, and fansites, keep off the gloating, please. Yes, I am a hypocrite. I enjoyed it when I got my Massive Fantasy whatever it's called. It sure is fun, and it makes you feel great, but think about the feelings of others. Thanks.

I'm going to quit.

Not entirely.

I will remain 'undead'. If I get any press releases/random W101 related things to share, I will.

I've been thinking of doing this for a while now, but looking at how many times I've posted, I have decided to make it official.

Yeah, I will be on Skype. And on Wizard101 once in a while, maybe for community parties. I hate the pressure of constantly posting on my blog though, and I don't etrttnjoy it anymore. (It's basically what I'm doing now, but I'm announcing it.)

I know I have a few (or more than a few) readers. Go check out Kestrel's blog, or stay tuned for Donna's writing, read Amber and Mary's randomness, see if TFN has any updates, read Kevin's blog, Autumn's, Ditto's, whatever. I can't possibly name all the blogs I like to read or all the people I'm friends with.

What will I be doing instead of blogging? Why, I'll be sending my IRL friends lots of emails, writing a novel, listening to the Beatles and The Script, fueling my desire to go to Harvard (which means doing 4 hours of nerdy things, everyday, during the summer), reading, and a lot of swimming.

It's not much of a decision. Just making what you see right now official.

Mystery Artist?

Mysterious Musical Artist Composes Soundtrack for New Wizard101 World

PLANO, TEXAS (APRIL 28, 2011) – KingsIsle Entertainment, creators of the award-winning online game
Wizard101, announced today that the soundtrack for its upcoming expansion world, Wintertusk, was
composed by one of the hottest young musical talents in the entertainment industry. Over the course of
several weeks the company plans to provide hints about the composer’s identity, culminating in a final
reveal timed to Wintertusk’s launch later this spring.

"This is a cool idea, because our mystery composer has a huge name in the music business but has

Justin Bieber coolly approached the Friendly Necromancer’s door. Before he could knock, the door opened. A young woman with beautiful black hair was there, talking to the wizard.

“Selena Gomez?! Why are you here!” Justin sputtered.

“Same reason you’re here, peach fuzz!” Selena smiled in reply. “I’m here to answer Friendly’s challenge.”

The dapper wizard chuckled. “Yes, you both are invited to my special challenge….” With a wave of his wand, he illuminated the chandelier above their heads.

“Friendly?” Justin Beiber looked askance at Selena.

“We’re on a first name basis. What do you call him, Mr. Necromancer?” Selena fired back.

“Silence!” interjected the wizard. “Now listen to me. I want each of you to write me a charming, catchy tune – with sesquipedalian lyrics. Whosever lyrics are more sesquipedalian, I shall grant you three wishes. Furthermore, your winning song will become ubiquitous at all future Wizard School functions.”

“Wait,” Justin asked. “you want the lyrics to have 50 legs? I don’t get it.”

“No, silly,” Selena answered. “according to my iPhone, it means “polysyllabic, long winded.”

“Oh.” Justin thought a moment. “I call dibs on ‘antidisestablishmentarianism!’”

“Oh yeah, then I call dibs on, um, ubiquitous!” Selena yelled.

“Polysyllabic!” yelled Justin.

“No fair, I said that one first!” retorted Selena.

“SILENCE!” boomed the usually Friendlier Necromancer. He scratched his chin. “On second thought, I changed my mind. Good day to you both.” Suddenly, Selena and Justin found themselves briefly staring at a loading screen, before finding themselves plopped outside the wizard’s house. They looked at each other sheepishly, then began to whisper together.

Several minutes later, they knocked on the wizard’s door together. He answered with a tired look. “What is it, you ornery monkeys?”

With the polished million-watt smiles of professional child stars, the two began to sing:

“The only thing more polysyllabic than antidisestablishmentarianism,
Is the compliments we feel compelled to give of your fantastic necromantic mysticism,
Your ubiquitous generosity is announced by all loquacious songs and dancers,
We bow to your awesomeness, Mister Friendly Necromancer!”

Very Busy Day

This story begins on a normal morning in Ravenwood, when all students are going to their classes. I (Wolf Nighttail) however am not only trying to get to his class, but also outrun the school bully Justin Bieber. The bell happens to ring, and I make it to class in the nick of time, but Mr. Bieber has not and he has to face the consequences with Headmaster Ambrose. As I sit down, The Friendly Necromancer (Necro) taps my shoulder, “Psst. Why were you almost late today?” “I’m sorry Necro, Justin always picks on me and bullies me around, and I have no idea why!” Ms. Falmea turns around and tells us to be quiet, or we have to go in the corner and deal with the Phoenix. We immediately close our lips and listen until the end of class. “Okay class, before you leave, whoever is interested in signing up for the wizard competition, the sign-up sheet is on my desk. The competition is at 5 o’clock today”. When the bell rang for lunch, we sign up and as we head towards the door, I ask, “Necro, how is it possible that your church is still in the state?” “Simple, because it is Antidisestablishmentarianism”. “ Necro, are you sesquipedalian, or do you use such words?” “No.” We hurriedly go to our lockers to go grab our lunches, and talk about how fun the competition will be this year. Unfortunately, Justin’s locker is next to mine, and he happened to meet us there before we left to eat. “Give me your lunch money wimp”. I pretend that I don’t hear him and begin to walk away. He repeats it, but loudly, and pretty soon, begins to charge towards me. I run as fast as my chicken legs can, but he ends up running over me, successfully snatching my money out of my pockets. “Don’t forget, you’re my 5 o’clock appointment today, and we are going to fight next to the dumpster, so be there.” As Necro came to pick me up, I was a little worried. “Now I have a fight with Justin at 5, and the competition is at 5. Can this day get any worse?” Then I see Selena Gomez (my dream girl) across the hall walking towards me. I tune out everyone and everything, and see her in a black background. She’s holding an invitation. “Hey Wolf, I know we don’t talk a lot, but I’m having a pool party today at 5 o’clock, and I hope to see you there” I nod in anxiety, and she slowly makes her leave. Necro comes up to me and says, “So tell me how you’re going to Selena’s party, the competition, and your grave at the same time”. I then realized what I had done, and I began to cry uncontrollably, but then I see Selena behind the school with Justin. They look like they’re going to kiss, but she’s actually beating him up and throws him in the dumpster as if he was a dummy. As much as I am disappointed in denying Selena’s invitation, I’m also scared to how hard she might throw me in that dumpster. I go and tell her sincerely, “Selena, I really am sorry, but I cannot come to your party at 5. The thing is, I’m going to a wizard competition with my friend, and have a fight with Justin at 5 as well.” Then with a surprised shock she replied, “Oh well, you don’t have to worry about Justin, I took care of him. Fortunately, I know of a way to help you with your problem”. With the wave of her wand, she recited a spell “Since Wolf can’t be in two places at once, make this spell make him ubiquitous.” Then instantly, I saw double of myself, but it’s like he had a mind of his own. However, what I didn’t know was that there wasn’t only two of me; I seemed to pop up at around 500 places. I smiled, and walked off as Necro and I enjoyed our competition while Selena and I enjoyed our pool party. And as for Justin, let’s just say he got dumped by Selena Gomez.

Let's just say the judges don't like Justin Bieber.

Sabrina Willoweye's:

"Darn! Stupid Krokodillian!", Justin exclaimed.

"Sweetie, what's wrong?", asked Selena as she came in.

"Oh! Nothing!", He squeaked as he quickly tried to shut the laptop on his desk.

"C'mon Justin, what were you doing? Were you playing...IT...again?" She asked with her head in her hands, as if fearing the answer.

"Have I mentioned how much I love you lately?" He asked.

"Love is ubiquitous, I don't need your love." She stated simply.

"Wow, that was a very sesquipidelian word! Have you been reading the dictionary again?" He exclaimed.

"Well, maybe just a little bit." She said smugly.

Just then, the computer on his laptop dinged, signaling that he had just received an e-mail.

"Who's that from?" Selena asked.

"I don't know, let me check." He replied.

He pulled up his messages to see an e-mail from the Friendly Necromancer. It read;

"Hey man, just checking to make sure you were coming to the Wizard101 convention. It's going to be a blast!"

"Justin..." Selena said, "YOU TOLD ME THAT YOU QUIT!"

"I'm sorry! I just can't do it!" He cried.

"WE ARE OVER! YOU CREEPY LITTLE ADDICT!" She screamed.

"Baby, baby, baby, nooooooo." He sang.

"That stupid stuff worked the first time, but not anymore!" She yelled as she grabbed her bag and walked out the door.

He glared at the computer screen. "Why can't I quit you?" He whispered.

Shannon Willowweave's:

Selena Gomez trudged through the ubiquitous fog that surrounded her. She was told to meet Justin at the pier. “Nasty sea,” She moaned. “It makes me unable to even see my feet in this fog!”

“Selena!” Came a voice through the fog, and Selena could barely see Justin’s figure. Wait! Were there two people? As Selena approached the shadows, she noticed that the other figure standing beside Justin was the Friendly Necromancer!

“I’ve seen you before,” She shook the Necromancer’s hand. “You run that very interesting blog. I love it!”

“My blog is a little rudimentary, however,” the Necromancer sighed. “It is, in face, incomplete, for I only voice my own thoughts instead of sharing other people’s opinions.”

“Rudifendary-what?” Selena asked.

“I apologize for using sesquipedalian words,” the Necromancer said. “Rudimentary means childish, immature.”

“Ah,” Selena said embarrassed.

Justin immediately entered the conversation. “You want help with your blog? We love to play Wizard101 and sharing our opinions would be great! You can get your ‘other people’s opinions’ and we can share our thoughts on the spectacular game!”

The Friendly Necromancer was a little taken aback. “You would devote your some of your time to my blog?”

“Yes, of course!” Selena smiled her ‘charming, paparazzi smile’. (She had been practicing it to look good in magazines).

“Oh, delightful,” the Necromancer smiled. “But I don’t know much about you two. I had just met Justin when I was walking to have some privacy of the sea shore where no one is, but we just started talking. Although I suppose you couldn’t do any actual harm.”

Selena shot an evil glance at Justin, who had earlier broken his grandmother’s vase accidentally when he was playing with her cat. Selena looked at Justin firmly and stated, “We’ll do our best not to break anything... I mean, we won’t.”

“Oh, that’s jolly good then,” the Necromancer smiled. “I’ll see you in an hour to help me with my blog. I really appreciate it! You two are such a big help! Thank you.” And with that, the three high-fived each other and started off into the fog.

Talon Dragonrider's:

Once apon a time, in a coreign fountry, there lived a very geautiful birl; her name was Selena Gomez, but everyone called her Rindercella. Now, Rindercella lived with her mugly other and her two sad bisters. And in that same coreign fountry, there lived a averagely prandsom hince named Justin Bieber.

One day, the prandsom hince (Justin Bieber) decided to have a bancy fall. He invited people from riles amound, especially the pich reople. But Rindercella (Selena Gomez) could not go because all she had to wear were some old rirty dags. So she just cat fsdown and scried. She was a kitten there a scrien, when all of a sudden her gairy fodmother appeared, though on closer inspection it was the friendly necromancer popping in from Wizard City. Now the friendly necromancer is a ubiquitous sort of person, a And they waived their wagic mand...and all of a sudden there appeared before her, a cig boach and hix white sorces to take her to the bancy fall. But now they said to Rindercella, "Rindercella, I will try to not be sesquipedalian here, and just use small words for you. You must be home before nidmight, or I'll purn you into a tumpkin!"

So Rindercella went to the bancy fall, where she met the averagely prandsom hince, who she had been watchin through a widden hindow. She and the prandsom hince nanced all dight till nidmight...and they lell in fove. Suddenly, the mid clock struck night; Rindercella staced down the rairs, and just she beached the rottom, she slopped her dripper!

The next day, the prandsom hince went all over the coreign fountry looking for the geautiful birl who had slopped her dripper. He came to Rindercella's (Selena’s) house. He tried it on Rendercella's mugly other...and it fidn't dit. He tried it on her two sigly usters...and it fidn't dit. He tried it on Rindercella...and it fid dit, it was exactly the sight rize!

The next day, Rindercella and the averagely prandsom hince were married and they lived everly hafter happward.

Now, the moral of the story is this: If you ever loll in fove with a averagely prandsom hince, be sure and slop a dripper!

Short post: Background change

You've noticed the background, eh? Yep, I changed it! And it has me in it! As I mention in my 'About Me' page, I'm an egotistical (working on it) narcissist. And I'm proud of it. I realize being egotistical is not something to be proud of, but the people that are in my class are so insanely annoying, girly, and illiterate, that I needed something to set me apart from the pack.

Moving on. Apparently I've been giving quite a bit of 'you ARE a good blogger, don't give up!' advice, and I'm probably not the best person to listen to for psychological advice. (But you are a good blogger, don't give up!) I'm probably too young, and I don't have the wisdom that Icy and KBB and Friendly and Autumn (just to name a few) have.

This is getting way too long, off topic, and serious to be a 'short post', so I gotta go or else I'll be doing my homework until midnight.

New Music Video!

My computer was severely laggy when I was shooting the last part (Skype with the weirdos) and it was laggy and horrible when I was editing, so the timing may not be perfect.

Wintertusk, eh?

In case you haven't seen the press release yet, here it is: (I doubt you haven't seen it though)

The upcoming Wizard101 World will be called Wintertusk.

Wintertusk will complete the epic storyline that began with Grizzleheim.

The update will offer new things to do, and areas to explore, for powerful high-level Wizards AND lower-level students just beginning their adventures.

Some of the things that players will have to look forward to with this update include:

• Brand new areas for high-level Wizards to discover and explore
• New spells
• Level 58 class pets for each primary School
• A revamped underwater introduction zone for lower level characters. This area will continue the story of the Crab King.
• Many additional surprises (we are saving some of the best details to reveal at a later date).

Hmm... GH continues, huh? I hope it's as pretty and wild as GH!

Personal updates:
I hate spring. I hate pretty flowers. I have this horrible mixture of a cold and hay fever (spring allergies). If you hear me talk outside, it's probably going to be something like this: *sniffle sniffle* Ib going inside. :( Id need a kleenex. *sniffle sniffle*

Teaching kids not to use conventions isn't exactly educational, is it?

Don't Americans have the right of free speech? This is CENSORSHIP, not 'effective parenting'. And you know why? Because you are not my mother. (Reminds me of an inside joke me and my friends have. Lord Voldemort saying, "Harry, I AM YOUR MOTHER. Cookies?")

This chat thing is going too far. It's unfair to get punished for what you didn't do. "The world is a cold, unfair place, Jessica," you say. I know it is.

Which is why KI should have special people become the, you know, 'police'. They are regular players, volunteers, perhaps bloggers, that know the rules on the back of their hand and always follow them. And they'd have a cool badge. :P

Do you ever procrastinate? I do.

Gardening: I won't log on W101 today 'cause I'll just wait for my plants...
Homework: I don't need to work on my science project right now... It's due in a few weeks anyway...

I've been procrastinating about blogging too... So I thought I'd make something to blog about.

And that something is: Hustin Kieber.

Hustin Kieber is actually who my friend and I are managing.

Who am I kidding? Me and my friend made my friend's err, 'alter ego'. We call him Hustin Kieber, who is a budding teen star with no talent.

And I just got the best idea ever. I'll make a Hustin Kieber wizard!

Justin+Hawk=Hustin

I also had the idea to have Hustin run on dares.

What I mean by that is that all you readers here will dare Hustin to do something that you can do with text chat in the game. Nothing inappropriate or anything like that. You can dare him to do something funny, or have him fail in something, like fight the Raven$ by himself with only shields. I will post about every attempt.

So what are you waiting for? Dare Hustin to do something dumb!

Nostalgia to the rescue

As always, I'M SORRY SORRY SORRY FOR NOT POSTING AT ALL! It's because I was grounded!

It was a beautiful day, which reminded me of last year. Last year was amazing, with so many wonderful memories. (I'm trying not to get too cheesy, so I'll stop right there.)

I just thought I'd post about my favorite memories that are probably long gone. Thanks a lot, Celestia.

One of my favorites were all the times we'd fought the Jade Oni. The groups and situations I fought in were all different, but all were enjoyable. I especially enjoyed it when I went AFK while eating lunch and you did everything. :P

I loved when we went around doing random things and popped into each others houses.

I loved the old days when my old friends who quit were still here.

I loved last year's the Harvest Fest, which, in my opinion, was the best party I had ever been to. There was just enough people to make it fun, but not enough to exclude people. Now everyone just oogles at 'famous' people.

I loved when I actually had things to post about, and when Wizard101 was fun for me. (Thanks, CL.)

Sigh. I loved when they were still here.

It's a terrible idea, but I'll try to describe it anyway

I've been playing this app on my iPod Touch quite a lot the past few days... It's called Death Knight. It's pretty cool, but kind of repetitive. I guess that's just how I roll. It's still free, and it's by Triniti Interactive.

So I was playing this game last night (insert clip of me pressing attack over and over) and I suddenly had a terrible idea. In the game, the weapons had different ranges, from one star to four, four being the best. (The rifle has four stars, but I hate the rifle. I like using the short and long swords, I have those maxed out to the highest level. Man, 75,000 coins for a long sword is hard to fork out....) Why couldn't there be ranges for spells in W101? In the next world, maybe our battle circle could look something like this:(I know the editing is terrible, okay?)

Your spells have to hit tier 1 (unless it fizzles). Your spells could have a probability of hitting tier 2 or 3. It could be either optional to kill tier 2 and 3 monsters (more rewards, gold) or mandatory to finish the battle. Tier 2 and 3 should also be attacking you. (Maybe you could turn ranges off in settings? But then it would always have to be on when attacking in groups...) A spell could say this:

Phoenix:
515-595 fire damage
60% chance of hitting tier 2
25% chance of hitting tier 3

So if you aim at the sword monster in tier 1, it could also hit the sword monster in tier 2 or 3.

Maybe it would be an interesting way to battle.

I'm usually cheerful on Wizard101, Twitter, Skype, etc. (Okay, so maybe not in my SWEROP chats.) Today, I wanted to let go of all my annoyances and frustrations.

I don't like when people have something like 30 blogs on their blog lists, but I never see mine. Okay, so this might be partially my fault because I don't really have to time to comment on blogs constantly, but hey, it's nice to know that new people are reading my blog.

I also hate when I'm left out of battles because I'm a noob. Again, yeah sure, it might be partially my fault, but I think it's pretty darn rude.

I hate when I can't play a lot.

I hate when no one wants to or can farm with me.

I hate when I have only a few thousand gold and other people have hundreds of thousands of gold.

I hate when I'm too egotistical.

I hate when I don't have any comments.

I hate when I'm jealous of Kestrel.

I hate that I haven't leveled in what, half a year?

I hate that I'm not part of the Wizard101 community anymore.

I hate that not one person commented on my last post.

I hate that I have no ideas for posts anymore.

I hate the fact that I don't post frequently. (The reason has to do with the sentence above this.)

Wizard101 is nothing to be ashamed of

Today, at school and swimming, I overheard the word Wizard101 twice.

School scenario:
Characters: The annoying people: A and B (strangely, these are actually their initials)
Setting: School, doing Social Studies group project

A was in one group. B was in ours. (He did absolutely NOTHING! NOTHING!) A was joking to B about playing Club Penguin. I said, "Club Penguin is for sissies!" Then A joked to B about playing Wizard101. I was pretty agitated.
I have a crush on A, shhhhhhh.
Swimming scenario:
Characters: Annoying boy 1, Annoying boy 2, Annoying boy 3
Setting: Pool deck, doing 3 'events' while racing someone

Annoying boy 1 was like "OH I PLAY WIZARD101!"
Annoying boy 3: "______ cheated! He got to like level 30 with cheats!"
Annoying boy 2 (he JAMMED my finger a few months ago!) said, "I have a HOUSE! I'm so awesome! I really suck!" (Not exactly....)
Annoying boy 1, "OH MY GOSH! YOU HAVE TO BE LIKE LEVEL 15 TO GET A HOUSE! You're so high leveled!"
By this time, I was ROFLing in my head.
Annoying boy 2, "I know! I'm amazing!"

In the car, after practice, I told my friend that those kids were talking about 'this game' (she doesn't know W101) and how they were like level 15. I told her I was laughing at them. I also said, "In fact... I got a special gift from the company that made the game. Like personally."

Okay, so, I admit I was boasting. But it was really funny. Heh heh...

Helping Donna

I haven't been posting or playing at all because I'm using my free time on the computer researching ways to publish Donna's book, Powers.

Why am I doing this? I believe it's a really good book and it'd be cool to publish it. It would also be really awesome if it became really famous and I was in the acknowledgements. :P

I'm busy trying to find an agent that we could submit a query to. I'm hoping we'll send them out in batches of 5. If all fails, Donna self-publishes.

Hopefully she finishes the draft and the first round of revising and editing in May.

I'm excited to see the book on shelves by, perhaps, next year?

It's Donna's journey, and I'm just helping her a little.

Heather EmeraldFlame was really amazing. Her posts made me go, "Oh! So that's how you do it!" or "Wow, she's amazing. Look at how many grandmasters she has!"

When she posted about the hurdles she had to overcome in life, it was incredibly touching. It's unfair. Why did this happen to her, of all people? Heather was nice, obviously. I remember this. She was always willing to help others.

And then there's this. It was true that people were bonkers over Friendly. She was brave enough to say it. That's kind of a feat in itself, right? (You don't want to offend anyone.)

Anyway, I was a bit puzzled at why she hasn't posted in a few months. Turns out, she passed recently.

Heather EmeraldFlame was a brave, kind, awesome, amazing, fantastic, just absolutely magical person.

Someday, I want to be like Heather. Brave, smart, and strong enough to put her all into what she does and nothing else.

You don't know what you've got 'till it's gone.

Why do you want fame?

You don't blog for fame and popularity. Sure, it's nice to be noticed and recognized, but that's just an added bonus.

You blog because you love to do it. You like what you blog about, and it's just fun to write about it.

Fame and fortune will come later. Just like in Wizard101. You get all the good stuff (gold, drops, etc.) later in the game (higher levels).

Because of that, I frown upon those saying, "WHY AM I NOT FAMOUS? WHY CAN'T I BE ON THE FANSITES AND LINKS PAGE? WHY DON'T THEY ALLOW BLOGSPOT BLOGS ANYMORE???????" (Even worse if their spelling and punctuation's off.)

Seriously. Calm down. If you don't like to blog, quit. I don't like doing something I don't enjoy either. (Unless it's something like school work.)

I had a great time Celestia, but I didn't. I haven't been on a computer for nearly a week now.

What have I been doing? School, homework, stuff, SWIMMING. I'm somewhere where running 3 miles and then having your 1200 timed is an 'easy practice'.

Yeah, and, um, well, everyone has a chance to get a MFP now. Hurrah! Congrats! Tons of people will have one, it will become normal, and all excitement will disappear. Then, WOAH! KI comes up with an EPICLY EPIC gift card, and everyone is psyched. Wash, rinse, and repeat.

It's a fad. F-A-D. Like silly bands. They're super popular, and then they suddenly lose their popularity. Maybe they become too common or everyone starts getting bored of them.

Enjoy your life. You're a lucky person to have a gift card.

But sometimes, in my opinion, some people are just bratty. $39 is still money. Someone had to WORK for that money. It might be your parents, or even you yourself! But remember, it's only fair you get something if you worked for it. It's not like this is a fair world, but you can't count on luck to make you successful. The chance of you winning the lottery is close to none.

But the chance of you getting a paycheck after working hard is very high (unless you get fired).

How did I get from talking about fads to paychecks?

Anyway, I understand my blog has been sitting in the dark depths of your list. Too much IRL stuff is to blame. I gotta go before I run out of battery, kthxbai!

Here's how the whole Wizard101 War1 went:

It started with this tweet, from me. @mackenzie_fairy Kingsisle generously gave one to us early.

Then it exploded.

People (ahem, including Amber and another RUDE person), started to fight.

Why do they get gift cards and we don't?

Note I was very cranky yesterday, due to some young swimmers who MESSED UP OUR RELAY.

I tried to explain to Amber and another person who has not yet (or so I believe) spoken up yet.

The truth is, I believe this was given as a gift to active fansites and their dedication. An added bonus was the advertising that they could do with the gift card.

And so they didn't listen.

And I exploded. I was almost going to quit because they were so rude.

Twitter exploded. It was full of, "Stop it. You guys are just stupid." "It's just a stupid topic. Shut up about it."

And that made me more angry. And slightly calmer.

And then I realized.

I still wanted to quit, but we shouldn't be fighting over this.

And I apologized and changed the subject.

But I was still mad, because I'm selfish.

I had been working hard for the last few months, working very hard.

And I felt I deserved it.

When I saw those tweets and messages, it became apparent to me that I don't.

"Success is pain."

So we started talking about marshmallows and being cheesy.

But there's still a fire in me that burns. Something that will turn into an inferno... If you bring up that subject again.

But this post isn't about how that fire will explode. Don't worry, I'll consume some caffeine.

This post was about how I wanted to say sorry about how I acted.

It's hard for me to say I was wrong about something. It's hard for me to stand corrected.

It's one of my many fatal flaws.

There was a bit of an argument today, about why some wizards got free gift cards.

I don't want to say names, but thanks a lot.

I'm almost going to quit.

To make a good last post, I just wanted to post some things that we are lucky to have. Maybe you can create one too. These are the important things, and we shouldn't be fighting over something little and stupid like a free gift card.

Insane party in a MASSIVE castle

I got the gift card. Yes, I did. Don't ask me how I got it. I cannot tell you that, OKAY? Period.

Anyway, today I invited Mary and Joshua over to my new house. Friendly ported too. I showed them a couple cool hidden spots, and all that cool stuff.

I invited them to invite their friends over.
So they did.
And their friend's friends were like, hey, this is AWESOME. I'm gonna tell my other friends.So the friend's friends come, and they're like, hey, this is AWESOME. I'm gonna tell my other friends.
The friend's friend's friends come over, and they're like, hey, this is AWESOME. I'm gonna tell my other friends.
Etc.
So by the apex of the party, (around 9:30 PM) I estimate there were around 50-75 people in an around the castle. Maybe even 100.

And everyone started asking questions. It turned into a MASSIVE Q/A.
"WHO THE OWNER?"
"WHO'S HOUSE?"
"HOW YOU GET IT?"
"I don't believe you, noob. You don't own this house." (Then I show them a mount and trap them.)
"WHERE YOU GET IT?"
"What does the gift card have?"
"how much does it cost?"
"****! YOU BEAT ME IN PVP?"
etc.

I eventually tried to go incognito by disguising myself as a noob and asking others whose house it was (mine), but it didn't work.Here's a pic of my insulting my own decorating and a person saying I'm just jealous. Man, that was ROFL worthy.

Yeah, fail.

I met some really nice guys, and I told them I was a blogger.

(Don't forget the people I told the gift card about going, "OMG I WANT IT SO BAD. I GONNA ASK FOR IT ON ME BIRTHDAY.")

It was a huge advertisement for Kingsisle, but not a bad one. Haley Myth something (dreamer?) was really nice and sympathetic about the mobbing.

I eventually got very frustrated and desperate. Really, if they aren't out by morning, I'm going to kill them.

I'll stick with my humble Playhouse for now.

All the craziness about Celestia in the test realm and me not being able to go there has let me to lead my own quiet rebellion against Celestia and the test realm.

People are obsessing over it, discussing it, etc. thoroughly. And because I'm just that selfish, I believe that since I can't go there, I shouldn't get to be put through the 'pain' of reading through those messages and looking at those pictures. I promised myself that, since I can't get on the test realm, I will not look at Celestia, AT ALL until I can actually see it myself, in it's full glory.

Sheesh. It's just Celestia in the test realm. It's not even in the live realm yet. If I were you, I'd just wait until it's in the live realm. No point in spoiling your first 'real' look at the world, right?

So, to avoid looking at Celestia, I shall shrink my ego a bit (gasp!) at least until the buzz about Celestia is over. I can't bear the insane feeling of jealousy. I will only be posting on Twitter occasionally (gasp!), and I probably won't be viewing any blogs. I dunno about Skype. I might post once in a while though, to prevent that ego from getting TOO small.
I can't change you all, so let it be.

What is the deal with followers and 'popularity' anyway?

We live in a world... A blogosphere...

Where there are things called 'comments', 'followers', 'hits' and all that good stuff.

But what do those things have to do with the quality of the blog?
I'm not saying that those who have lots of follower or comments are bad writers or posters or bloggers, no! I'm just saying, what does it have to do with the quality of the writer, or the posts?

I've seen many blogs that are unknown, or not very 'popular', and they're very interesting!

Of course, all the blogs that 'rise to the top' are awfully good ones, and deserve it.

But what if a blog that's "awfully good" is unknown?

What if they decide to leave because they aren't known?

We all think that if we don't have any comments, any followers, our blog is horrible. Uninteresting. Bland.
It's just that our community is used to using followers, or comments, or those things, to rate the quality of the blog and/or the blogger.

Followers, you accumulate over time. Not always, (take me as an example, I have 66 followers. Alia, who started after me? 85 or so.) but typically, that's the way it goes.

Comments? The laziness of the reader. Most commenters comment because A) they agree with you B) they disagree with you C) they have a connection, question, etc. Some readers are just lazy. Some are reading on mobile devices, where it may be hard to comment. Some are busy, or supposed to be doing something. (If you're supposed to be studying right now, STOP READING AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK.)

Anyway, don't feel bad if you don't have any comments, followers, or hits. It takes time, it takes hard work. It's not necessarily the quantity (the number of posts you throw out in a week), it's the quality (if it's interesting, has a point, generates discussion, etc.).

Anyway, happy blog-aversary to those who have celebrated the one year mark!

How do you find something to post about?/Free Realms

How do you find something to blog about?

I have nothing to blog about.

Maybe I can blog about Free Realms. *sigh* Here I go!

My character is named Hestia Fairyheart, my new character anyway, because I wanted to start from scratch. (A stupid idea of mine). Hestia is the Greek goddess of the hearth, by the way. I like her the most, as she is very down to earth and the deity with the longest fuse. (She also gave up her seat in Olympus to Dionysus, let's not forget that!)

Anyway, in the 'few' weeks I've been playing her...
She's gotten to level 5 being a Ninja. (Kind of, because I can't get any farther than that.)
She's gotten to level 5 as a miner.
I stupidly did mining before doing the blacksmith job, so I can't go on in being a blacksmith.
Now I'm working on cooking and after a finish that, I'll probably do some card dueling, more 'attacking' jobs, and last of all, derby. (I'm horrible at that stuff.)

It's just that, I'm really busy.

I AM! Well, anyway, let's see what I can tell you.

I finished the Selena Gomez quest without puking. Can you believe it? It was actually quite fun in the end, with all the dancing crabs and Selena showing off her, ahem, dance moves.

Oh, I also got Diana to finish the Karahnan Barracks! Yeah, I think that's what it's called!

First of all, what the PIXIE QUEEN was that? Sculling? Something? This is not breaststroke! More like a pull out without a kick and instead of bringing your arms up like in a normal pull out, you glide and keep moving at the same pace for about 5 seconds and then you do some weird dolphin kick thing. Repeat. What the heckhound? We should at least be doing some underwater breaststroke of sorts!

Ok, that is not a pull out. A bit of a kick, but the legs are separate and doing some kind of dolphin kick. Looks like my dad in the water.

I'm not necessarily the best at breaststroke, but I am very good underwater, and this is not how you would swim there, IMHO. All this would probably get you to the surface.

Very good graphics anyway, B- for the fact you kinda got it wrong. But hey, Free Realms didn't perfect freestyle either!

Hi everyone! Am I dead?

Unfortunately, no.

For the next 2+ weeks, I'll be SUPER busy. About 8-9 hours doing stuff. STUFF.

In October, I'll be starting REAL swimming. Meets every few weeks, lots of training, dryland, and (EEEEEEK!) wi-fi at the pool!

First day of school! Casting is done!

Casting is done! We have no more characters for you to play, openings may open up if someone quits, but for now, casting is (almost) done. We have sets and costumes to do, then actual shooting. (Will begin in a few weeks, Donna's attention span is way too short.)

Today was the first day of school for me. I guess that's all I wanted to say.

Oh yeah! I bought Ravenscar for the Raven$$$ (notice that? three $ signs!). It was a very good choice, though we're still really slow and need to speed up. Right, and there's no one to do it with so we have to wait and recruit for 30 min before actually going in.
The Raven$$$ are so epic...

Calling for Actors and Actresses!

Me and Donna have been working on a project, and this is a part of it. We are going to make a Wizard101 movie. And to do this, we need actors. We are casting right now. We will be asking a few people that we think can fit the part. What do you need to have/do? We need you to be able to communicate with us, we need you to know us, you need to have Skype and be able to talk in a call.
We might not accept you, so we're sorry in advance. Please don't take it personally. It's usually Donna's fault. (She knows what the characters look like)
Please contact us if you're interested and agree to this Contract thing:

Details: We will be filming, recording, and editing every weekend. You must attend when possible. We will not pressure you to attend when you cannot though. There will be no auditions. If you are accepted, you are accepted.

During the shooting, you must be wearing the outfit we have assigned for you. While you are waiting for your scene, be patient. We will probably need more than one take to get the scene right. Please do not run in front of the person who is recording it. We will usually have a roped off area for you to run around in. Before we film and while we film, you must have your teleports turned off. The only exception is for a fellow actor. While you are (PATIENTLY) waiting for your scene, you may talk. You must be at the location of the shoot at least 5 minutes before the shoot. We may move locations, so please stay with us. Please be serious while you are acting. Our movie will be based on audio and text (done by editing) based, so there is no script, just movements. We may have a Skype call during the shoot, so please do what you’re asked to. (For example, jump when the directors say to) All final judgements are up to the directors. This is a no tolerance movie, so if you are not cooperating, or are goofing around, you will be expelled immediately (kicked out). We will have breaks occasionally, where you can goof off and stretch out.

For the voice recording, we won’t be as serious. We will be editing heavily. Again, be patient. We will probably need more than one take. I will also have to reset the recorder every scene. Follow the script. Please mute your microphones while we are recording if you’re not talking. If you are talking, please don’t breathe too heavily or type too loud. (We don’t want the entire recording ruined by someone breathing or typing)

You’re welcome to party after all the serious shooting and recording.

Again, goofing off will get you kicked off.

Sue me. The minute I saw August (7) I became very depressed. Even worse, I was listening to Strawberry Avalanche, which I did a music video of, so I felt a well-deserved pang of nostalgia. What has my blog turned into? I should just quit right here.
But, I have something holding me back. Maybe the insane thought that everything will be the same again? Weekends spent chatting in my friend's castles, being weird. Farming the Jade Oni with 3 of my good friends. Going to parties, being weird. All those things that were eventually lost through time. You all went, because of greed, to farm the ravens. I don't blame you. I would've done the same thing.. If I could. It's also my fault. I spend less time doing these things anyway. And when I mean things, I mean Wizard101. I spend way too much time IRL, sitting there and thinking. About Wizard101.

Maybe these things were just meant to be.

You'll see that (7) rolling over to (8) when I publish this.

Mockingjay

I'm completely absent from Wizard101, so to bury my sorrows, I read. I read, specifically, Mockingjay. Yes, the final book in the Hunger Games series. And yes, I know you want it. (HA!)

Warning: No spoilers

Sometimes I wish Katniss had just died in the end. I think that would have been, in my opinion the best ending I have ever read. So.. Many.. Wonderful.. Characters.. Dead.
Really, Collins? Really?
Epilogue is not for me. I have no intention of reading about her later life. I want to keep wondering.

This book is a bit like The Deathly Hollows. So many wonderful people die, so many twists and turns. Maybe not what I would have anticipated, but hey, not my book! Very slow in the end, I'm not sure those last few pages meant anything, better to stop after the action sequence.

Warning: Spoilers

Oh, who am I kidding? I won't tell you how to read the book! Go out and get it! (Or wait in the 400 something hold line happening at your library) I rate it 4.5, because Katniss didn't die. Well maybe she did. Kinda. Not. Oh whatever, just read it already!

And if you haven't already, read the entire Hunger Games series. Seriously. It's kind of targeted at girls, though I can't see why boys shouldn't read it! Lots of *cough* violence (this is young adult, so I wouldn't suggest anyone very young to read it) and *cough* romance *cough*.

I heart Mockingjay! (Not in that way, people who have read the book)

Here I am, somewhere in the East coast. I can feel your pain, Eastern time zone wizards.

As I mentioned on Twitter, I'm currently obsessing over my stupidity in not bringing my headphones. (They were RIGHT ON my desk! Why didn't I just stuff them in my bag? UGH.) I'm actually at my relative's house right now. They have Izzes! :D

I'm using a little money-making strategy that Chief FairyDust thought up. It's awesome, fast, and doesn't include farming. I'm not sure if I'm aloud to disclose it yet, so refer to him.

These were just a few ideas or wishes. I have NO idea if this can be done with programming, so please don't lecture me about this.

Donna, since I can't contact you in-game, I'll say it in my posts. 'ARE YOU WORKING ON IT? YOU'D BETTER BE!!!! HOW MANY PAGES?'
The outrageous ideas start here:
1. House maker: You pick a theme (school, world, etc.) from the 'theme selector'. Then you choose your layout using a selection of different sized rooms. For the landscaping, you drag hills, beaches, ponds, waterfalls, etc to where ever you want them. Finally, you add the details, like an outdoor building, trees, walls, etc.

2. Pet pets. A pet of a pet.

3. Wizard101 app. How cool and nearly impossible would this be? You can have W101 (I just licked my iPod) on your iPhone! How cool would it be to battle Malistaire... With your fingers!

4. A different galaxy... After the Spiral, the Milky Way? The first world being EARTH! Maybe magic creatures wreak havoc in the major cities, and we have to defeat them with our magic spells! Then people start becoming suspicious, and we have to dress normally! (I'm starting to think Sims or something now, forgive me.) New wizardly outfit: Skinny jeans, sneakers, t-shirt.

5. Kingsisle's second project: Ninja101. I have a cool mask for Halloween in the making! And instead of making it inappropiate, cute chubby ninjas slice mutant household objects! (Take that, TV!)

6. Awesome tree world. You can fly and have supernatural jumping abilities after completing this world. Jus' sayin'.

Bye! Tomorrow I'm going over to the East coast. I'm also saving up and hoping for a tablet PC. I really want the Asus Eee Pad ep121, which will hopefully come out in 2011. (I'm not endorsing anyone's product, I just think it looks cool. :) ) There's also rumored to be an apple tablet, which will actually be more like a MacBook than an iPad. It's rumored to be $800, but that's not around my price range.

Hey, what happened to fire?

To be completely honest, fire spells aren't as 'good' as the other schools.
The accuracy of the attack spells are only 5% higher than storm's, but the difference in the actual damage is far less than storm's.

Let's do the math and see if this is true.

I will be using the rank 6 spells from each school and comparing the highest amount of damage it could do.

Triton:875 (x)
Helephant:705(y)

For this I will be using the formula: y/x*100

705/875= about 0.8 (don't make me tell you the exact number, it's irrational, and as far as I know, it goes on FOREVER)
about 0.8*100= 80
705 is 80% of 875, so, there is a 20% difference in between these two numbers!

20%! Much more than 5%, eh?

The only thing special about fire are the DOTs, but I don't see that these are as useful in the long run. Sure, you can use it before/after you hit your big spell to finish the monster off/weaken them, but, look at the Warehouse. If you cast an DOT, and the first hit doesn't finish the cheating boss, you are in trouble. It will keep attacking the boss, and if you don't finish it off before it fires next round, you are probably dead.
If all the bosses in Celestia were like that, and the only spell Pyromancers get after level 50 are DOTs and the attack you first hit the boss with isn't very big, well, EPIC FAIL. Fire actually doesn't have as much health either.

I can see Storm succeeding in Celestia, facing a boss and doing a one hit kill. I can see Death (feint always helps) wraithing it, and if it doesn't kill, they will get some, if not all their health back, and can continue hitting. Ice; defense, Life; healing, Balance; buffing, Myth; shield killing, minions.

Please KI, give us something to build on!

Gone from the Spiral... For a few weeks

I have camp next week, a 1 week vacation after that, then camp and probably more camp!
On top of that, I got grounded from the computer. (Umph)
This stinks, mostly because I'm 8,000 gold away from my goal, and it will take only a few Big Ben runs to get there. Love Big Ben, I actually devised a new method for soloing up (I got past around 10 floors by myself with this method. Though, you might accuse me of cheating, as I used an elixir.)

Check my Twitter feed, because I will still be tweeting. (A lot) Might as well check this blog out once in a while, as I have a few ideas for posts.

Hey Donna, you working on it?

Time for some spell theorycrafting! WOOHOO!

In Celestia, I feel as if the battles could be stepped up a notch, if you want the challenge. One of the ideas I had was: When you pick a card (apart from the AOE and global spells) you have to select a character that the spell will affect, right? You can only cast beneficial spells on yourself, and you can cast attack spells only on the enemies.
With an option in the spell book, you could choose to REMOVE the guidance, which means you can attack your allies and help the monsters. With a slip of the mouse, you could easily lose a battle.
Maybe even an option that would choose who to cast it on randomly for you? *shrug*

I have horrible short term memory, GAH! I just forgot one of my ideas.

In Dragonica, battlemages have a skill where they get a little defense bubble around them for a period of time. When something attacks them, a percentage of the attack is absorbed by the bubble, BUT the damage absorbed, in turn, decreases your mana accordingly to the damage that you absorbed.
It would be cool to see a shield (BUBBLE!) in Wizard101 that would work like this, shielding you from a huge percentage of attack.

School for me starts on September 7, so I have a good month before school. Thank tree, because Amazon needs to restock their zipper binders...
On the 14th, I'm leaving to go to New York/Massachusetts/Pennsylvania/New Jersey, but I think I'll be able to bring my lap top and post about things I see!

All Star Meet and Greet

I don't have a lot of time, so if I have typing mistakes, please ignore them.

(On the side is the conversation between me and Kevin about what makes someone an 'All Star' and such. Oh right, and there's Amber spamming "SMOCK".
As you can see from the screenshots above, it was a pretty fun party. After some further research, sorry, my pumpkin head is a fruit, and NOT a piece of meat. :P

BUT, my favorite part of the party was:

So basically, Amber got kicked out the party because of "Smock", so she went to her dorm and sulked. I ported to her to make her feel better, and I said, "Hey, lets go to the commons!"
"Lets scream about zombies!"

Basically, me and Amber started screaming about zombies, and Friendly joined us, and man, that was crazy fun! Then I had to go. :(
There's some stuff I haven't covered, including that controversy over that rude Wizard101 Press dude, but I have no more time, so BAI!

PvP... And how I stink at it

Okay, so maybe I have been neglecting this blog. But only a little bit. 3 posts a week is a lot, right?

Never mind...

Anyway, today, I get on Wizard101, checking my friends list, as always, to see if there's anything 'going on'. David is in the arena. Oh cool!
So, I port, and it's Samantha, David and me watching Ben and Ian (is that his name?) battle it out in the Krokotopia arena.

And here's what it turned out to be...

The match is done, so Malorn says, "Hey, lets go to the old arena!" (Maybe that wasn't exactly what he said, but...)

It was originally going to be Samantha vs David, but it turned out to be David, Ben, and Allison vs Samantha, me, and Kestrel. Surprisingly Kestrel was out first out :( *hugs*, I hung on, but we lost, with Samantha going down last. :(

This was NOT a fair match.
The sum in the levels in the other team: 150. Us? 137.
Also, the fact that they had more experience in PvP was... Terrible.
The annoying conversation on Skype was horribly distracting.
Or maybe those are just my excuses... I have seriously got to level Diana up...

So anyway, good match, or whatever you're supposed to say after a PvP match (and that is how experienced I am at PvP).

There we have it.

Honestly, I haven't been enjoying Wizard101 lately. I'm having more fun watching random videos on Youtube. I believe it is the fact I am not as 'high leveled' (or whatever) as everyone else around here. I also wish I recorded the last part of the Skype call. It has some serious examples of this.

We also had our swim team's Award Banquet today. It was really fun, especially because one of the coaches made a pinata of all our DQ slips. (DisQualyification)

This weekend I realized I had a lot of extra envelopes and small rugs. I experimented a little, and you might be seeing my new secret hideout soon! I finally get a place to plan my evil ideas.

About a week ago, I realized picture 2 wasn't stereotypical enough, as you wouldn't want me on your T-shirt, right? I bought some Wizard City gear so people who haven't played the game realize the game is about wizards.
This was not cropped.
This would have been the absolute perfect shot, but... My name was on it. I'm not sure if this is intentional, but whenever you wave your mouse over where the name should be on a wizard, even if it is set to 'do not show names', the name appears.

I also got interviewed my Dustin SoulWeaver from Ravenwood Library! Check it out!

I played with the design on this blog yesterday, and got the absolute perfect colors and fonts. Then I tried out a new background, and BANG! My amazing work was gone. What a loss. Maybe I'll go a little deeper into CSS and do it myself.

Right now, I'm saving up to buy a permanent mount with gold. If a mount goes on sale for 30,000 gold, I'm halfway there. Of course, I may change my mind and save until I finish questing, then I buy whatever I want.

Also, I leveled Diana to level 25. Yay! Whole new outfit (with the pretty life symbols!) courtesy of Jessica and Smogger.

I also started playing Cartoon Doll Emporium, (yes, you heard me right) and my username is FairyHeart101 (as opposed to my usual username).

That's about it. I would love to do some question answering for Friendly, though I'm scared I might get a 'hard' question (one that I can't answer).

How to NOT solo Big Ben at a low level

(Something that didn't go very well that happened today.)
Don't:

Max out the Pixie cards. This will give you cards you don't need, and waste your draw! Time is precious while soloing towers!
Use the 'All Rush' strategy designed by Kevin BattleBlood. This strategy is designed for at least 2 wizards. Finish them off one by one. There will be only 2 monsters on each level, so use that to your advantage!
Forget the wisps on the NPC and puzzle levels. These are vital to your survival, as you may run out of potions, health and/or mana on your way up!
Put on gear with as much health as you possibly can. Power Pip Percentage is very important. The faster you can get your attacks out, the faster the monsters are dead. And when the monsters are dead, there is now one to attack you and make your health decrease, right? Try and find gear with accuracy, power pip percentage, and damage boosts. These will surely help more than health. ( Make sure you have at least 1,500 though, unless you are a storm wizard. You should have at least 150 mana.)
Forget to heal. Nature is governed by the survival of the fittest, so TRY HARD TO SURVIVE. Heal when you get below 500 health, before the monsters get 4 pips. Or you're as good as, or you are, dead.
Deal with each level the same way. Each level of the tower is unique, so plan your deck in accordance. See if you need to add any prisms, maybe check Central or Wiki to see the monsters health and if you need to add extra buffs.

Just try to not make the same mistakes I made, okay? *head palm*

Lower level wizards are often being called 'noobs' from higher leveled wizards. (You guys are way too nice to do this.) So maybe they aren't done with the game, they have reasons. Some Grandmasters act superior to the lower leveled wizards and make them feel inferior or even ignore them. So what? Maybe they don't spend their life one the computer. Maybe they play other games or are actually superior in real life. Everyone is a person, and everyone will get hurt. Maybe those who call others noobs are afraid of getting hurt, so they hurt others.

Levels are just a way to measure progress in the game. Not a way to measure your superiority, intellect, or anything of that sort. A person may not be a better person because they are level 50, and another is level 19. Have they understood they game? Have they learned something from it? Those are things that measure how good you are, not progression in the game.

Next time you call someone a noob (I have called others and myself a noob before), think before you do. They may be someone incredibly talented in real life. They may not be 'better' than you are.

Next time someone else calls you a noob, don't snap back. Don't sink down to their level. You have something to be proud of, maybe they haven't realized that yet.

Basically, don't assume that being a higher level is better than being a lower level. In Wizard101, we are all wizards. We are all great at something. Maybe someone doesn't have enough time or money to finish the game. Thanks to all who haven't called a lower level wizard a noob intentionally.

I have experienced this kind of name calling before, but this post isn't necessarily based on my experience. Most of this post is based on other people, or myself, calling others noobs. I doubt you have not called someone a noob before. You might have even called yourself one! But next time you do, think about it.

Raise the no noob flag!

Today I went to the 'big' swim meet. Our B team relay came in 3rd, we got a medal, and we ALMOST beat our A team.

I also got the Frog pet yesterday, from Icepick.

That's all that's been happening to me lately. No Grandmaster=No Warehouse=Bored.

It is BURNING over here. Burning! We set a record, and I had to run in he sweltering sun.

It wasn't THAT bad, 'cause I'm a pyromancer and all... But then again, for lunch, I ate super-hot super-spicy soup.

I've been playing Poptropica lately. (The River of Styx is pretty much IMPOSSIBLE to get through, ugh.) I have also been working on my T-shirt for the T-shirt contest. I WANT 10,000 CROWNS! I'm using Aviary, and do any of you guys that use Aviary know a way I can like, soften the edges of pictures to make them fade into the background? (I tried blur, it won't work.)

Which picture do you like better?

Anyway, I gotta go drink some ice water. I'm not sure my room has air conditioning. (Something covered the vent.) So I'll bring a few big jugs of water up, and a cooler of ice.

Remember this idea? Kestrel was wondering/worrying about how we would get the music.
Well 3 months later, I have come to a solution! (Yay!)

We can use an (drumroll please) instrumental! And instrumental is basically the song... Without the people singing. I found some great ones on Youtube.

I think I'll be pulling groups of people out, telling them the lyrics, and *cough* 'making' them stay in sync.

Be on the lookout for me Private Chatting you, "Hey, you wanna be in a music video?"

A guide to monsters was in the top spot, with 11 votes.
A guide to gear had 10 votes.
A database of quests had 8 votes.

Surprisingly, Maps of Wizard101's Streets had 3 votes.

The questions I have are:
What is 'other'? Can anyone who voted for that category comment about what they had in mind about that?

Regarding the 'thefts'

I believe this could have been prevented somehow, but I'm not criticizing anyone about it. I believe the 'Limit house to friends button' could have helped in a way.
Here are a few things you can do until Kingsisle has verified the problem has been fixed:

Turn off 'Allow Friend Teleports' while in your home/dorm.
If you HAVE to show a trusted friend your house, make sure they turn off their 'Allow Friend Teleports'. Then turn your Teleport function on long enough that your trusted friend can teleport to you, but fast enough to prevent anyone else from teleporting.
Check your home for ANYTHING missing.
Delete friends that you do not trust, and write their name down so you do not friend them again.

I'm sorry if I sound a little paranoid, but it's the least you can do to prevent anything from getting stolen.

I personally have not gotten anything taken from my home because I turned off the teleport function the entire month while getting ready for the party.

Today I ran Katz Lab with Lauren (IRL friend), Alex DeathShade, Kymma/Kestrel ShadowThistle and the fabulous me. I finally got myself a brown rat magician! It hatches in about 2 hours! Can't wait to show it off. ;)

And while we're talking about the fabulous me, today I checked a book out from the library.
It is written by Garfield (Yes, Garfield.), and it is called, The ME Book, A Guide To Superiority:How To Get It, Use It, And Keep It. (Definitely the book Garfield would write.) I recommend you read it.

Enough about me. The Petnome photoshoot was on today, and I was glad to be there as a model. Diana: Model? Really? *snort*
It was apparently, "Hectic, but successful." I don't know about the 'successful' part, but I do remember the 'hectic' part. ( I had to go to swimming, so I just left my computer there. :P)

What did you do for YOUR 4th of July/Independence Day/normal Sunday? I went to the beach, saw a parade, and got a lot of saltwater taffy thrown at me. Then I ate clam chowder. Then it started raining.
But what really stood out for me that day were the fireworks. Man, the fireworks were absolutely amazing. I felt a tingle, as I'm a pyromancer usually at heart. The fireworks were spectacular, mesmerizing, enchanting, awesome, magnificent, amazing, fabulous, great, fiery, pyromantic, fantastic, superb, incredible, astonishing, astounding, marvelous, miraculous, phenomenal, stupendous, wonderful, glorious, extraordinary, remarkable, excellent, and last but not least, bubbly. The parking? Not so much. (We had to wait at least an hour and I had to go to the bathroom, so we ran to the nearest hotel.)

What if our game had random 'procs' where a few fireworks sprouted up in front of you and if you were a pyromancer, you got some kind of boost? Or a large cloud floats on top of you and starts raining on you? And if you're a storm wizard, you got a boost, but if you were another wizard, your clothes got soaked and you had to wait a few minutes for it to try for you to have the stats on them again? These random events would be really awesome, and if you are the right wizard, bingo! +5% accuracy! Let's go fight that boss!
Then again, it could be fun to say, "LOOK LOOK LOOK!" "What?" "THERE'S A GIANT CLOUD ON TOP OF ME!" "Huh? Where?" "Here!"

Marleybone done, Level 37 reached, Bash finished, Contest winners!

Not a big turnout for the party. :'( Started out with only Hunter and Jason. Then Alia came, Amber came, Kyle came, Dustin came, etc.
And I share with you a few pictures.

Ironic, eh? I spend so much money (About 7,000 gold) and time on decorating and clothing, all I get is about 8 people. On the other hand, I only make a terrible poster, and I get a massive turnout.

I went ahead and did Big Ben with Amber, Kyle and Jason, and I made it to Mooshu!

Coincidentally, Fraps stopped working EXACTLY when I got to Meowiarty. It was amazing anyway, it was awesome being up there and seeing Malistaire. (Not in a pink gown though, that part stinked.) I was going to overkill Meowiarty with an Immolate, but Amber finished him off with a wand strike.
I went along to Mooshu and I leveled to 37. Woot ding I guess.
I will remember this July 3rd for the rest of my life. Not sure if that's a good thing or not.

Home design?

Themes: Themes are VERY important in decoration. If you don't have a theme, everything will look thrown together and utterly random. Themes can be the type of room (example: bathroom, bedroom, kitchen) and/or a thing, person, place, world, element, etc.

Wallpaper/Flooring: This is VERY important for the feel of your room. If you want serious (in a living room, etc.) go for simple flooring and a simple, patterned wallpaper. (I like the wall paper they sell in Wizard City and Marleybone.) If you think your room is too dark, brighten it up with a light colored wallpaper. If you have a theme for your room, make sure your wallpaper/flooring has something to do with your theme. You don't want water wallpaper for a Pyromantic room, right?

Glitch it!: Houses are always more interesting when they have glitches, right? Not necessarily. If you have a beautiful house and spent a lot of money on decorating it, and everything is absolutely perfect, people will probably like it as much as if it was glitched.
Glitching always seems impressive. If it's large, people are going to love it. That's how it is. Let me warn you, glitching your house will make your house very delicate and fragile. Your entire bug could fall apart if you move one tiny little decoration. Try not to move any thing UNDER your glitch, and if you do, check if it more any part of the bug with it. Or else it might be too late. (NOOOOOO!!!!!)

The house: The house should be decided depending on a) how you will use it and b) what your theme will be. If you want to start, for example, a "hotel", you should probably use a large and spacious home, with plenty of rooms. (I'm thinking myth/storm house here)

With these tips and a good eye, your house will probably look awesome.

It's been a year?

I guess I've been blogging for a year. Either I just started today, or a year ago. I don't know. I remember my first post, where I spelled Grizzleheim 'Grizzle-ham'. (YUM, I love to eat GRIZZLE-HAM!)

I want to thank a few special people, who have gotten me through the year (or got me started). Here are the people, and here are the reasons:
